Collaboration

col·lab·o·ra·tion
kəˌlabəˈrāSH(ə)n
noun
1. the action of working with someone to produce or create something.

An internet meme is a kind of collaboration. A blogger, a writer, an author, imagines a theme and creates a space where other writer/bloggers can post their own contributions to the theme:

Sinful Sunday

Wicked Wednesday

Masturbation Monday

Friday is Boobday

February Photofest

Kink of the Week

Food for Thought Friday

All collaborations. As is my own, the Scavenger Hunt.

The Scavenger Hunt is a collaboration in more than just being a meme though (at least to me.) The Scavenger Hunt feels like…an heirloom, a legacy. It has been through several “facilitators”…other bloggers that have managed it and then, for one reason or another, had to let it go. I am only the last of these facilitators.

I took over the Scavenger Hunt at a particularly sensitive time in my writing life: I had closed my old blog, Kink & Poly, after my partner’s untimely death, but had, with much trepidation, opened this space, Pieces-of-Jade. I do not remember if Curvaceous Dee had contacted me, or if I saw a message that she was looking for someone to take the Scavenger Hunt over, but I was in a place where I needed something to…interest me in blogging again. To give my blogging a purpose.

Facilitating the Scavenger Hunt seemed to be right thing at the right time.

I cannot say enough how grateful I am that Dee allowed me to take it over. It allowed me to…to be here…in this space, without having to commit too much emotionally, while I recovered from the terrible tragedy of my life.

This past week I have been working on cleaning up broken links, etc., in the Scavenger Hunt. I have been…deeply affected by those bloggers who no longer have a live blog. Many of them I have known through the years, most in blog-space, some in real life – but all of them held a special place in my heart. There are some, in particular, that I have known about but been unable to write about (Cammies, Clive).

The changes are outlined below.

More than anything, I want to invite newcomers to the Scavenger Hunt. You do not need to be able to identify yourself in the image – blurred faces are fine. Feel free to join in the fun – we will all welcome you with open hearts and arms! Email me at piecesofjade at gmail dot com if you have any questions.

Removed or Deleted Blogs

Curvaceous Dee. Although not the originator of the Scavenger Hunt, Dee is the Crown Mother of it, and I wrestled with how to designate her in the lists. Her sex blog has since gone dark, by her choice, but I wanted to recognize her place without having a a bunch of broken links. I chose to leave her name in her Scavenger Hunt accomplishments, but disable the links.

Cammies on the Floor. I honestly don’t know what to do with these posts. She scheduled her blog posts far out, and they are still coming across my feed. I am torn. It hurts to see them. And yet…they are her, and I imagine she would have wanted them to be seem by those of us that knew and loved her. So…I have left them linked, for the time being.

Clive. I did not know what had happened to Clive’s blog – to his life – before starting this project. I am…devastated. A sweeter, gentler, more loving and light-bearing soul I could not name. His links are dead, and I have removed them…but I mourn.

And others:

Kiwirbare, DirtyLittleWhispers, Lusting Lola, iKink, McPervy, Her Second Chance, KinkyBikerMom, Beck and Her Kinks, SpaceBunnyKink, Behind the Chintz Curtain

I would love to see a resurgence in the irreverent fun that is the Scavenger Hunt. Come, join in – collaborate!

Wow, so many names I recognize from the days when I started. It is never easy.
I’ve toyed with the idea of doing scavenger hunt, just not sure I am that brave yet

Yes, I was surprised and saddened to see so many blogs gone. It’s such a weird thing, too, because most simply disappear, with no explanation, or a reason that only a few know. There is no sense of closure for the readers left behind.

So many blogs indeed are gone and it’s sad, saddest of all Cammies and Clive.
Yes to new faces for the Scavenger Hunt and I wish I could get back to it too, but until my husband is more mobile again, it’s not going to happen.

I am so sorry for the difficult times you have had to endure getting through the links.

As a newcomer to the scavenger hunt I hope that my additions can bring a smile to your face when I share them in the same way that other people bring a smile to my face when I come and take a peak.

I am sorry to read about the sadness which brought you to create this blog, but happy to hear that it’s been a help to focus on it and communicate in this way – I totally get not wanting to go in too deep at first.
I am curious about your scavenger hunt and will acquaint myself with it’s specifics and see if it is something I think I could join. Great post!
